BAM, I address this to you because you have expressed your sense of the importance of marketing for AXC ( and seem to know a great deal more about it than me...that's bound to be true of many things.)
My concern ( and I am not sure it is fairly founded). Forgetting the web and all else for a moment ....using the DST history as a starting point. My assumption is that many of those few companies that need performance like that will find the DST excellent and find it cheapest by the gig despite the upfront expense, and will therefore purchase. Many already have. AXC targets those who need it and can afford it, and I suppose that is sensible.Certainly limits expenses, and they do have to be mindful of that. While I do not doubt their substantial expertise in knowing which doors to knock on, there is tremendous anecdotal evidence that most, about all, other companies have never even heard of Ampex or the DST. How can Ampex accurately anticipate the changing business plans and therefore the changing storage needs of all those other companies? They can't. There may be very surprising potential customers in the woodwork, and if they wait for that to become obvious...for "after the fact" publicity ..... they will have lost a potential foothold. And they need all the footholds they can get. You mentioned, kidding a little I imagine, advertising at the Super Bowl. I would, at the very least, carpet bomb corporate and university and medical imaging centers etc. America with brochures ...until most all have heard of the DST line and know what it can do. Even the many who do not need it...yet. Welcome any comments.
