OK - I believe that Ericsson is ahead with GPRS. But I don't buy the notion that they would not have trumpeted an Asian deal if they would have landed such. Open plaform definitely would be better - but it may not be a crucial issue here if everyone sells to their established clientele anyway. We'll see how it develops.

Are you sure that Ericsson made the first W-CDMA call in a *public* network? That was the point of Nokia's announcement - the fact that they didn't use a separate, closed test network for the call, but routed it via existing, public telecom network.
