Xiaxin's DH9085 A/V Receiver Enhances the Home Theater Experience of the SuperVCD and DVD
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 1999-- Zoran Corporation (Nasdaq:ZRAN - news), a leading provider of integrated circuits (ICs) and software for digital video and audio applications enabled by compression, announced today that Xiamen Xiaxin Electronics Co., Ltd. (Xiaxin), one of China's largest home audio and video OEMs, has selected Zoran's digital audio processor for its first Dolby Digital (AC-3) certified Audio/Video (A/V) receiver, the Amoisonic DH9085. The availability of the new DH9085 receiver was announced on March 16 in Shanghai, China. Shipment of the DH9085 will begin next month.
The new Amoisonic DH9085 is the first Dolby Digital certified A/V receiver that was totally designed in China. The DH9085 is a new addition to Xiaxin's growing line of high quality, low-cost home audio and video products. Utilizing Zoran's ZR38601 powerful and cost effective audio processing capabilities, the DH9085 supports the growing demand in China for high quality digital surround sound.

The Zoran ZR38601 provides the DH9085 with the ability to process a wide variety of audio data streams produced by SuperVCD, VCD, DVD, laser disk, CD players, digital television receivers, and set-top boxes. Downloadable microcode from Zoran's SiliconSoftware(TM) library, along with the ZR38601's on-chip decoding function gives the Amoisonic DH9085 the ability to automatically detect and decode incoming Dolby Digital and Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) data.

Zoran's ZR38601 is a true fourth generation digital audio processor. Developed in conjunction with Dolby Laboratories, it is the ideal solution for a wide range of digital audio processing tasks. In addition to Dolby Digital, Pro Logic, and audio data stream identification, it supports MP3 decoding, Virtual Surround Processing, sophisticated sample rate Music Modes, THX processing, and Bass Management. In the case of Virtual Surround Processing, algorithms from seven separate suppliers have been ported to the ZR38601 platform, and because of the power of the ZR38601, each algorithm can be executed simultaneously with Dolby Digital decoding.
In addition to the ZR38601, Zoran offers the advanced ZR38650 digital audio processor. This powerful processor performs all the functions of the ZR38601, and is also DTS certified. Additional algorithms that can be run on the ZR38650 include MP3 encoding, Advanced Audio Coding (AAC), and Meridian Lossless Packing (MLP).
