And NOW--I know you've all been waiting, hoping it won't come too late for dinner, which I'm afraid it has--THE RECIPE. Courtesy of my friend Alice, original source the Bloomington (Indiana) Herald-Times. Sorry that I can't do any sort of formatting--this old Cserve Mosaic is extremely poopy-- but do bear with me. "Fried Sugar Balls: Heat 1 1/2 cups lard in skillet. Melt three sticks margarine, mix in 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar and form balls about 1 inch thick. Drop sugar balls in hot lard. Remove when golden brown. Serve hot, sprinkled generously with powdered sugar. This is a favorite of kids and grandparents alike. Even people who say they don't like lard love this dish!" Enjoy!
