I understand that Dell provides its specs to its suppliers and then takes the best price. This causes suppliers to cut corners wherever possible. Don't attack me on this - I'm just repeating what I've heard.

re: 450 vs. 500mhz

The 10% gain in speed would have bumped the net price by about 10% - a reasonable difference for the gain. Nevertheless, I will be replacing the computer at a point when the 450/500mhz won't make any difference in performance, so for me there is no need to pay for the extra speed.

re: options
