Gee, I would think that if he knew it was genetic, he'd blame himself less. Has he tried drugs? I saw a tv program about people crippled by shyness, and remember the case of a little girl so painfully shy no one at school had ever heard her voice. She was give a med by a specialist in psychotropic drugs, and a few months later, her life had been transformed. It wasn't all an agony of shyness. Shyness is just so painful.
