Cringe - Re: "HP and Intel haven't been getting along lately,"
For not "getting along lately", why is HP putting out their THIRD press release TODAY on a THIRD HP Product line based on Intel Pentium III Xeons?
Hewlett-Packard Company, the worldwide workstation leader,(1) today announced plans to expand its HP VISUALIZE workstation family with a new line of high-performance Windows NT® workstations based on Intel's new 450MHz, 500MHz and 550MHz Pentium® III and Pentium III Xeon processors. HP to Expand HP Visualize Workstation Family
Announces Support for Intel's New Pentium III Xeon Processors
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 1999-- Hewlett-Packard Company, the worldwide workstation leader,(1) today announced plans to expand its HP VISUALIZE workstation family with a new line of high-performance Windows NT® workstations based on Intel's new 450MHz, 500MHz and 550MHz Pentium® III and Pentium III Xeon processors. The new HP VISUALIZE Personal Workstation family will complement HP's broad line of workstation solutions, which today include the HP VISUALIZE family of UNIX® system workstations, and the industry-leading(1) HP Kayak PC Workstations.
HP's new system will be part of a technology demonstration at Intel's Pentium III Xeon processor launch to be held today at the Spectrum Gallery in San Francisco, Calif. Using MacNeal-Schwendler's MSC/NASTRAN and MSC/PATRAN, two leading engineering analysis applications that support the Pentium III processor and are performance optimized for the HP VISUALIZE Workstations, Leviton will show how it has increased the performance of its product design process by using the HP VISUALIZE Personal Workstation multiprocessor system with Pentium III Xeon processors.
The new workstations -- slated to be unveiled in the next few weeks -- are ideally suited for technical and creative customers whose design work requires superior graphics and application performance in a Windows NT-based environment.
''The Windows NT-based workstation market has evolved into two distinct yet synergistic segments, which are characterized by volume and value-added business models,'' said Patty Azzarello, worldwide marketing manager of HP's Workstation Systems Division. ''While our award-winning HP Kayak PC Workstation family continues to be the market's volume leader, we will soon be unveiling a new HP VISUALIZE Personal Workstation family, which we expect to set the standard for graphics, application performance and system design.''
Today, HP also introduced the HP Kayak XU PC Workstation with Intel's newest 500MHz and 550MHz Pentium III Xeon processors (see today's related announcement). These systems will deliver excellent performance to software developers, design engineers, financial analysts and multimedia authoring professionals.
