Oh yes, they're paying him! I have no problem with it. I think it's great.
Saturday, December 12, 1998 Viagra Maker Hires Bob Dole
Bob Dole is heading back out on the campaign trail — this time to stump for Viagra.
Dole was hired by Pfizer, maker of the anti-impotence drug, to do TV ads and speaking engagements to raise awareness about impotence and men's health.
Pfizer would not disclose how much it is paying the 1996 Republican presidential nominee, who will not mention Viagra by name in the messages that will start early next year.
In May, Dole acknowledged on national TV that he participated in the trials for Viagra, which he has called a "a great drug."
"I'm convinced this campaign can help men pay attention to health problems they might otherwise be afraid to discuss," Dole, 75, said in a statement.
Between 10 million and 20 million men in the United States have impotence, but only about 10% of them receive treatment.
