In re: FTC, is yours the thread consensus? I've been looking at the consent decree (http://www.ftc.gov/os/1999/9903/d09288intelagreement.htm), and it doesn't look like they backed down to me. Intel appears to have two (2) concessions from the feds: they can still withhold when threatened with injunctive relief against shipping (and only then), and they didn't have to pay a fine. What am I missing? [OT: Win98]: the only people I know with 98 got it preinstalled on a new PC. Small sample size, sure, but indicative. On topic, none of my bleeding-edge geek pals has purchased a PIII yet; some think it's overpriced, some are waiting for higher clock speeds and the inevitable price drop.
