Paul, stop playing with words. I am sure that Intel has not even yet announced a firm delivery date for a Merced system. But they have been intentionally setting people's expectations.

Believe me, when Intel was out on the road at the end of 97 trying to get system software developers to invest in porting stuff to the Merced platform, (by offering them prototype systems that would have boiled coffee quite nicely, incidentally) the impression they gave back then was that Merced would be generally available far sooner than 2000.

Accept it. Intel screwed up with Merced.
