Hello everyone :-)

You all have been so very nice, sending me thoughtful wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery, I just want to thank every one of you and give you a big hug!

Every thought and prayer has meant a great deal to me. This hasn't been fun having my back quickly deteriorate and then waiting to find out why that was happening.

I promised you all I'd let you know what is going on. Seems strange to announce personal issues as such on a public thread but so many wanted to know that I feel it's OK to share.

What I have is a CSF cyst in my L5/S1 nerve root canal. This is a cyst that is full of spinal fluid and probably came from my previous back surgery a year ago. The cyst has been growing and is pressing on the nerve(s) that run through that L5/S1 opening. This has caused tremendous pain and some other not fun stuff.

I have to have surgery to have the cyst removed and the nerve repaired. There is no other choice. Sort of a damn if I do and damn if I don't but the way I see it is "Dammit I'll do it and dammit I'll be fine!"

Surgeon says it is a very complicated and risky surgery. There will be two surgeons, nurses in funny hates, the machine that goes "ping" and a canary. There will also be the patient in case the hospital administrator comes by...
That would be me, also in a funny hat and goofy as Hell.

They wanted me in quick which is next Tuesday. I don't know how long the surgery is, I'm guessing 3-5 hours and then a fabulous stay at club hospital for 5 days or so. I've been to this hospital before and they are very nice actually. Good people. I did some volunteer work there and they all know me well. It will be almost like a homecoming!

So, until then I'll get into some CMGI madness (why not) and be here to help all y'all with anything you need. Tommy will be here now and when I'm in the hospital. We have you covered :-)

Thanks everyone and keep your fingers crossed for me!!
