As I said, it was a wonderment. I would never have believed it, but a mutual acquaintance who also lived in the French Quarter confirmed it. He said they were walking down Dumaine Street, and a pretty woman came up to Don and told him that the check was no good, and he told her to put it back through, and kept walking. She did seem awfully trusting, he said. That's all I know.

I think if you actually made it one of your life's goals, you could do it. If you ever have nothing better to do, that's something you could take up. Manipulating dumb women. Kinda like shooting fish in a barrel, I'd say, but what do I know?
