David, I've been lurking for a while. Your comments on the OCTL thread led me over here.
There are so many good stocks to invest in, that I prefer investing in companies that have interesting products and technology, as well as good earnings.
Innovative young firms are much more fun to research than old, getting-slow companies, with lots of baggage in proprietary legacy systems. Former leaders can spend most of their R&D on kludgemanship!
So I've started checking out CGRM. Over on StockSmart, there's lots of CGRM info pulled together in one place. websmart.stocksmart.com
CGRM's latest 10k, filed 01-24-97 at sec.gov is loaded with information, and also some frankly scary caveats.
I think large firms are happy to buy from innovative, younger companies, if they are pretty sure the new guy will still be around 10 years down the road.
A good way to aid survival is a slew of partnerships with strong firms, even with potential competitors. I'm glad to see CGRM working with Motorola. I hope they make many other good connections.
Thanks for the tip leading to CGRM, David.
