Sorry if this has been posted, as it's a bit dated (3/8), but it's a very comprehensive article discussing HDSL vs. HDSL2 with quite a bit of press from Howard Flagg (PAIR Exec. V.P. Bus. Dev.):

Of particular note: "In the second quarter of 1999, Pairgain will start offering HDSL2 services over its HiGain T1 system and, later in the year, integrate HDSL2 functions into the Avidia system. Avidia is an inverse multiplexer based on asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) and HDSL2 techniques".
