There are two ways to eat a pastry. One (and the norm) is to narf it down in one lightning orgiastic blur of now-now-now. Intense - but so brief and aesthetically incomplete.
The other (and something of a vanishing art) is to neatly carve little bites out with a fork and one at a time lick them up, get the full taste of each one, sweet and tart and aromatic, and let the experience become a long sustained celebration of sensuality.
Like a cat licking cream out of a cup.
