Yes. When I was there, goods for sale were marked with the VAT ( Linda, that's Value Added Tax) already built in. If I recall correctly, they call it the GST (Goods and Services Tax) but it is essentially the same as a sales tax.

And I agree, Iomega is gouging them, even when considering GST and shipping costs. I guess they can get away with it.

As far as E-smuggling goes, the British gov't is even more Orwellian than ours and from what I understand, instrumentally scans inbound overseas mail better than a Star Trek tricorder. They don't hesitate to open packages that are suspected to contain something illegal, unlike our postal service which largely confines itself to packages that are suspected to contain something valuable. If they confiscate the package, as they did to one Englishman I met, they send a pissy letter telling why you won't be receiving it.
