Piecing together what I'm hearing about Japan, the fiscal year end is important to Japanese banks which hold boatloads of stock in Japanese companies. It was published that below 18,000 there would be massive insolvency of Japanese banks at year end. The speculation is that the Japanese government has been doing some of the recent buying as a different sort of bailout. Preempting having to do real work. The give back is perhaps investors taking advantage of the government's generosity and throwing a monkey wrench in their plans. bwtfdik.
