Excel Switching Provides Carrier-Class Switching Solution For Germany's Telecommunication Providers
Excel's EXS Switching Solution Complies With Rigorous SS7 Conformance Testing
HYANNIS, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 18, 1999-- Excel Switching Corporation (Nasdaq:XLSW - news), a leading provider of open switching platforms for telecommunications networks worldwide, announced today that its EXS ExchangePlus has passed Germany's SS7 conformance tests, enabling Excel to provide turnkey switching infrastructure solutions to carriers in Germany. The conformance tests are a pre-requisite for SS7 interconnect tests which all telecommunications carriers must adhere to in order to offer services in Germany.
Since deregulation in January 1998 more than 50 emerging carriers have entered the German market. ExchangePlus will enable Germany's emerging carriers to provide a variety of services such as tandem switching, international gateways and enhanced services. The ExchangePlus switching architecture offers a number of benefits to carriers. In addition to supporting worldwide network signaling requirements, the open system enables companies to bring new, differentiated services to market faster. Emerging and established carriers can grow as their subscriber base increases, providing a cost-effective solution for future services.
''This achievement is a testament to the flexibility of ExchangePlus and its importance to the global telecom industry,'' said Robert Madonna, president and CEO of Excel. ''The ability to provide a turnkey solution that is compliant with Germany's standards, underscores the openness of Excel's platform and its ability to adapt to diverse global signaling requirements. As Germany continues down the path of deregulation, new switching solutions that enable emerging carriers to compete effectively will be critical.''
