OSICOM SOLVES LAN/WAN MANAGEMENT ISSUES AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE ANNOUNCING NEW
Low-Cost Managed CSU/DSU with Drop & Insert
ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION, Md., Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Osicom Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: FIBR) today announced its newest addition to the ROUTERmate family of internetworking products, the ROUTERmate-T1 Drop & Insert CSU/DSU.
"Osicom has solved the issues of affordably managing remote LAN/WAN equipment under normal conditions and, more importantly, when there's a network failure," said Scott Brakebill, product manager of Osicom's Internetworking Division. SNMP or TELNET access to remote CSU/DSUs and routers is an effective way to provide management when the network is functional. But what happens when the network is down? Until now, administrators and service providers had little or no troubleshooting access to isolated sites during outages. Osicom's ROUTERmate-T1 D&I can provide dial-up management access to both the CSU/DSU and its attached router, eliminating the concern of not being able to service distant locations when they need it the most. An optional integrated V.32 modem gives ROUTERmate-T1 D&I this capability. The units built-in, code-activated switch allows a network administrator to console-manage critical remote devices via a single analog modem call -- around the network problem.
The basic function of ROUTERmate-T1 D&I is to allow a customer's voice and data traffic to be transmitted across the same T1 or fractional T1 line. Each unit offers a standard V.35 interface for data from a device such as a router, and a DSX interface for voice from a PBX. Data port speeds of Nx56k/64k are supported, and user-defined DSOs carry voice traffic through the DSX port. The DSX interface can also be used for any voice or data traffic that requires a DS1 framed format. This includes channel banks, multiplexers, and Primary Rate ISDN (PRI) router ports.
The ROUTERmate-T1 Drop & Insert joins an elite group of Routers, CSU/DSUs and ISDN Terminal Adapters, all focused on the need for manageable, low-cost, and reliable networking solutions. ROUTERmate is unmatched in the industry for its: low-cost design; technology integration; flexible options geared to address today's hybrid networks.
Recent evaluations conducted by the InfoWorld Test Center used the ROUTERmate-Tl and ROUTERmate-56 to network Cisco routers. "The ROUTERmate products offered a range of configuration options that are easy to understand. This makes installation a breeze," said Carl Fischer, Technology Analyst for InfoWorld. Fischer added, "It was a set-and-forget operation. We set the ROUTERmate units up and forgot about them -- no problems."
The ROUTERmate family also includes Osicom's ROUTERmate Plus, a series of integrated router and CSU/DSU products which further complement the newest member of the family. Osicom Technologies offers the choice of creating a network using separate routers and ROUTERmate units, or combining these technologies in a single ROUTERmate Plus solution.
All ROUTERmate models provide flexible management facilities including SNMP, TELNET, and Terminal Console. ROUTERmate models are available in standalone and rack mount configurations. Rack mount units install easily into a ROUTERmate MiniRack.
