LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 1997--Steve
Madden Ltd. (NASDAQ:SHOO), a leading designer and marketer of
fashion footwear for women, Tuesday announced the signing of a
licensing agreement with Colors In Optics Ltd. for sunglasses and
sunglass accessories.
Colors In Optics Ltd. is a privately held company that holds the
licenses for better department store brands such as Gianni Versace
and Versus, Andrea Jovine and Les Copaines. Colors In Optics is
known in the industry for innovative product and design and is a
leader in optical innovation.
The initial sunglass line will debut at the Steve Madden Retail
Stores. A roll-out to better department stores and specialty stores
nationwide is planned for November delivery.
Rhonda J. Brown, chief operating officer, stated: "The success
of Steve Madden Footwear has accelerated the demand for more product
lines with the Steve Madden label. The phenomenal equity of the
Steve Madden name with young female consumers will drive a major
expansion and licensing roll-out that will include hand bags,

Steve Madden Ltd. designs and markets fashion footwear for women
