Hi Alomex! A Southern California publication, Computer Currents, reviewed WP Office 2000. The title; "The Lost Suite." Excerpts:

1. "As you'd expect, WP Office 2000 boasts plenty of Web-related features. But Corel, showing admirable restraint, hasn't gone overboard with the Internet bells and whistles. Why is this good? Because, unlike Microsoft Office 2000, which inundates users with Web collaboration tools that most users neither want or need, WP Office 2000 focuses on 'real-world' enhancements."

2. "Corel hasn't stunned us with astonishing new features, but the company has put together a well-packaged suite, with enhancements that are far from useless. Depending on what Corel decides to charge for the package, Office 2000 may or may not offer enough 'gee-whiz' upgrades to warrant its price."

These are offsetting comments, so what is Corel's challenge with the upcoming release? The same as before, trying to peel companies and individuals away from the "Microsoft Family." A tough challenge indeed.

The problem with Corel's year-end statement, receivables. While lower than the past, are still too high. The A/R number from Q2 will be most interesting to watch. Best guess is Sales and Receivables will reflect distribution of the new releases. A good read on the downward sales trend may not be visible until Q3.

Cheers.

Scott
