*AV*--I have no real comments at this time on GATE and am willing to look at it more closely. However, the post on Novalog was intriguing. I had the opportunity to visit with them more than 2 years ago and became extremely familiar with their IRda portfolio of chips.

If anything were more cut throat than DRAMs, this might be it. Their chips are foundried out and they are extremely small. The margins are very low on the ICs and the end products or end users buy in large volumes with low margins. Consider this almost like LED type businesses.

IRda is phenomenal, so do not misintepret my comments. As a user of IRda for the transfer of data across platforms, it is a great blessing. You can have "wireless" transfer of data to a shared printer, transfer data from system to system without intermediary media, and you can upload/dowmload profiles/schedules/data from one PCD to another of from a portable PCD to a base station. Truly wireless and wonderful. However, I do not fully comprehend the financial benefits of owning stock in a company that provides this technology. It might not be a case of "making it up in volume".

I could be wrong is this assessment but the days of the $100 replacement remote control for your TV, VCR, or cable is over. now the universal remotes go for $10 or less. Just my opinion.<GG>
