Re: Japan's Trade Surplus

Bosco,
Thanks for the article. I never did fully understand the credit crisis that preceded Greenspan coming to the rescue. Though there are some that still doubt that was his real motivation.

Somewhat related, did anyone catch the article semi-buried on page A8, column two, in today's Wall Street Journal? CNBC ignored it, but I bet Bill Fleckenstein may bring it up in his Market Wrap comments.

It had some astounding (IMHO)overall Japanese trade figures. It seems that the trade surplus fell 27% (to $7.9 billion) in February. Exports dropped 12% and imports fell 5.7% (Imports have fallen for 14 straight months!). Not good.

Ramsey it leads some creedence to your thoughts of Asian Contagion II. Amazing how little coverage that article got. Japan is still sinking it appears. Although, the very last sentence, "..imports [to Japan] from the region rose for the first time in 14 months," was interesting.

Really the entire little article was pretty interesting and fact filled. On a day when the bears are out, I think it would have made some headlines. Today (with 10K Dow excitement) it gets buried.
