Here's an email quote from a friend that's attending GDC:

And all the 3d hardware cards in the expo are really neat to see - they are all either running a Q3 demo or half-life or the new Valve team fortress classic. Interestingly, 3dfx is doing an incredibly poor job of demoing their stuff. Their best hardware, v3 3500 is on an AMD K6-2 (66mhz bus, L2 cache on bus) and it just couldn't stuff the hardware fast enough. Small monitor, and the marketing types didn't know anything. Unless you really examined it you wouldn't of known it was a K6 (they didn't say anything about the machine type). 90% of people were concluding that the frame rate just sucked. To make matters worse,

*right next* to them was nvidia showing TNT2 with 4 huge flat screen TVs on the hottest hardware running Q3 and half-life and they looked *great*. Dunno what's happening with 3dfx but I was very unimpressed.
