Edit: On Power Quest (QP) in general and Partition Magic (PM) in particular. Responding to Sean's questions about my earlier comments.
>>The web updates are easy to find on their site. you click on support. whats hard about it???
That was definitely not true when I went to update. Had to click on support and many levels below in obscure ways. When I got there, the description was unclear as to what was covered in the update. This was all hashed out here at the time. Maybe it's better now, but that was when I needed it. Sucks is a kind term for it.
>>What kind of problems are you having with the install????
The install itself works ok, but the NT install puts a bunch of DLLs into system32. Poison if you want to make an install and port it to other installs. For this kind of product, which can run from a floppy, inexcusable. This is Intuit level POS. PQ should do it much better.
>>Seems the Maxtor 17G have been a real pain. Glad I didn't have as much trouble with my 14.4G....
It may sound like sour grapes, but it's not: I am glad you and others didn't have these problems.
But that said, and I mean it, how do I use PM? Do I ask, "Can you partition my <insert manufacturer, size, serial no, format, magic cookie> disk before I install your POS product? Or do you do partitions? Do you support the POS? Do answer questions by email? Suppose I don't have time to hang on hold? Now what?". That about sums up my PQ problems.
That and they should damn well answer their email, a$$h0les ...
Does this maybe clarify my feelings a bit <ggg>? Anything else I might explain? <gggg>
