Partytime,

I was waiting for someone to discuss Richard Lefurgy too! Since no one has I'll bite...

More information on him:

The Internet Advertising Bureau reported Tuesday morning that Net advertisers spent $490.7 million during the third quarter of 1998, up 16 percent over the second quarter and up 116 percent over the same period in 1997.

"We're seeing greater revenue growth over a higher base," IAB chairman Rich LeFurgy told The Standard.

Richard Lefurgy is popping up everywhere. The former senior VP of ad sales at ESPN Internet Ventures took a post at San Francisco-based venture capital firm Walden Associates, and simultaneously agreed to sit on the boards of Walden companies Lot21 and AdKnowledge. Meanwhile, LeFurgy maintains his chairman spots at the Internet Advertising Bureau and the Procter & Gamble-inspired Future of Advertising Summit Committee.

The Internet Advertising Bureau has named an additional nine members to its board, bringing the total to 16. The new members are: David Adams of Winstar Interactive; Susan Bratton of At Home Network; former Starwave exec Rich LeFurgy; DoubleClick's Lee Nadler; Chris Niemeth from New York Times Electronic Media; Debbie Pinkerston from OnSale; Scott Schiller from Buena Vista Internet Group; Greg Stuart of Cars.com; and Kenny Wachtel, who's at Excite.

Though the quarter was healthy, the days of triple-digit increases experienced throughout 1997 are gone, one of the signs of a maturing market.

"I don't think there's going to be any big bang when a surge of advertisers will come online, but we'll see steady increases like this," said Rich LeFurgy, chairman of the IAB.

Phillips' exit is the latest in a series of abrupt changes at the top of the Disney hierarchy. Rich LeFurgy, who also serves as chairman of the Internet Advertising Bureau, left his post as head of sales for Disney's online units in August.
