Cooper may be a takeover candidate - report
NEW YORK, March 18 (Reuters) - Cooper Cos, having recently shed its Hospital Group of America unit, may be a takeover target for larger lensmakers such as Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ - news) or Bausch & Lomb (NYSE:BOL - news), according to an article in Businessweek.

The report suggests that the company, which has fallen to 14 on the NYSE from as high as 28 in November due to price pressures in its contact-lens business, is vulnerable to acquisition because of its deflated stock price.

Cooper derives nearly 50 percent of its revenues from its Cooper-Vision unit, which produces a soft contact-lens that corrects astigmatism. Cooper's other unit, CooperSurgical, makes medical devices for women's health care.
