From a poster on PPML (I have withheld his ID since I did not ask his permission to post here first)

This fellow has been further down the road than I have. Think of this gentleman the next time someone mentions that "prostate cancer is one of the most curable". Indeed, there are tons of stories like this one out there....the only thing exceptionable about mine is my relative young age. Maybe that is part of the problem, who cares about a bunch of "old farts" twenty years out to pasture. (median age for PCa is something like 73) Well, guess what you young studs out there, this shit can happen to *YOU* too!

Know your PSA, family history.....critical info you may need a few years down the road!

42 years old and PCa. You are another of the youngsters out here. It is seldom, I am glad to say, that I see a post from another person who was detected with PCa in the early forties. I always try to set up some communication with them. I feel that being the younger group out here we have some additional concerns that some of the older members do not share with us just due to their age. This is not to say that they are not concerned about us just a different point of View. I was blessed with being able to go to the PAACT conference last fall and almost all there looked like my Dad.

Catch me up on where you are at with PCa treatment. Just from the post
today I have a feeling that you have not had the "pleasure" of playing this game for very long. I will add my digest so you can see my journey. I am 45 now married 1 daughter in collage and another a junior in High school and a son who is 13.
I can not add anything about you surgery except you need to be a little more forceful so you will know what to expect. Some doctors do like to give out a lot of information. Of course does are no longer working for me. Mine are required to keep me informed and to communicate. I hired them and I can fire them. I look at them as consultants. I believe that communications are a part of being a good doctor.

Keep in touch and let me know what you find out.
God Bless
