In '69 I was riding in a pal's VW down by Disneyland, which happened to be a favorite spot for streetracers. We were sitting at a light between a couple of Chevelles revving their engines: the light turned green and the race was on. But from right behind us there was a tremendous roar, and a Chevy II (or was it a Nova?) blasted by, caught and passed both of the Chevelles. The car literally seemed to jump off the street. We had been smoking something a few minutes before, and we just sat there and stared in stunned disbelief.
