My own personal "red flag" is when the company issues press releases at least once a week talking about revenues "at the rate of" or some such thing, but not real revenues. What do you think?

--Add to that "estimated" revenues of any kind, usually based on winning a percentage of perceived market share. Typically this percentage seems modest: "1% of the PC market in China", or some such.

--Companies forever announcing "stragetic relationships" with firms in places so remote that any independent verification is impossible.

--Companies forever announcing "strategic relationships" whose benefits to them are unclear, perhaps non-existent.

--"Related party transactions": not always a danger, but they need to be looked at carefully.

--Companies that grandly announce "partnerships"--with IBM, Microsoft, whatever--that anyone can apply for by merely filling out a form online.
