T. I think that Don W. is slightly over emphasizing batteries for electric cars. Here is what the Fuel Cell Handbook has to say on Fuel Cells vs Batteries for cars:

Energy density : Fuel Cells 1900 Wh/kg, Internal Combustion Engines 900 Wh/kg, Lead acid batteries 40 Wh/kg and most optimistic specifications for batteries 200 Wh/gk.

Charging time The same for IC and FC very long for Batteries, requiring a "leasing and exchanging" system.

Distribution: Liquid fuel distribution is in place and could possibly be refitted to distribute methanol, hydrazine (ouch) and even liquid hydrogen (even a bigger ouch VBG).

Of course, that handbook woulkd have a fuel cell to power every house as well (G).

I think that VLNC is wisely avoiding funding a car battery program for the time being. There is a lot of money to be made in portable PC and phones.
