Greg:

Gracias for the repost. I think Tad's analysis provides reasonable rationale to question or discard some wild speculations from bullish analysts about where MU is headed. However, his analysis is based on assumptions that are questionable at best.

Here are some issues to ponder on:

The next boom cycle in semis will be engendered by bit demand growth upwards of 30 plus percent. MU has the ability to ramp up production and gain market share (based on their existing capacity and the move to 0.18 micron lines across the board). It is also undeniable that communication markets are going to be a big chunk in DRAM consumption over the next decade. Add to this the fact that cheap PCs invariably will mean, all that need for increased processing power, is probably going to come from additional memory.

Clearly there is a reasonable case to be made for a bullish future for micron, based on certain assumptions. Will just depend on whose assumptions (bulls or bears) prove to be right will be revealed by the reality of the marketplace.

Best Regards,

Sridhar
