Cable & Wireless Selects Newbridge Networks Equipment For Multiservice Global ATM Network - Newbridge Delivers Cable & Wireless Global ATM Network Equipment
MARCH 19, 1999 MAIDENHEAD, UK--Newbridge Networks (NYSE: NN; TSE: NNC) today announced it has been selected to supply the new high capacity network equipment for the Cable & Wireless global asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network. Under this contract, Newbridge is working with Cable & Wireless to deliver the scalable, broadband equipment necessary to deliver global ATM services to Cable & Wireless' worldwide customer base. "Newbridge has been awarded this contract over its competitors because of its ability to provide a flexible and comprehensive solution for delivering fully-managed services across a wide range of traffic types," said David Wickham, Chief Executive Officer, Cable & Wireless Global Network. The new network equipment is based on the industry-leading Siemens / Newbridge MainStreetXpress(tm) 36170 Multiservices Switch and MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager. This powerful networking solution is ideal for delivering a wide range of fully-managed services across a single, unifying ATM network. The MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager and MainStreetXpress 48020 MultiNetwork Service Controller will enable companies such as Cable & Wireless to extend their reach and provide scalable, standards-based, globally-managed services.
