Louis, I believe that T issues its dividend on the first days of Feb, May, Aug, and Nov, for shareholders of record on the last day of the month two months prior. The dividend Feb 1 was issued to holders as of Dec. 31.
I guess one positive in the lagging share price is that the dividend yield is now 3.3%, one of the better yields on the Dow, and quite above average in the general market (minus utilities). I am part of AT&Ts DRIP, in which I take a small measure of solace as the stock continues to go sideways. Capital appreciation sometime soon would be quite welcome.
Re my earlier post about T's bad press, in today's WSJ it continued -concerning commentary about the new World Trade Organization pact among most of the leading global economies to open their telecom markets. Logically the years of cut-throat, streamlining competition here in the USA would mean very good things for the US long distance companies, but did AT&T ride the wave of positive news? Nope - the quote was "In the short run, the pact may be less valuable (compared to MCI and Sprint) to AT&T at least in Europe, where its loose alliance with several phone companies has faltered"....
They just can't seem to get much of a break.
Long T,
