Does IBM believe in the NC (Network Computer) ? Yes a "trillion" times over

As IBM was quoted at the current CeBIT conference:

" IBM believes that in the next five to 10 years there will be over one million businesses and one billion people using one trillion mobile and network devices to communicate world wide. "

Maybe why IBM is writing drivers for Linux and will release its NC "OS on Demand" later this year .

AAPL's just announced Server OS X , which runs on (IBM-MOT) PowerPCs , has the "OS on Demand" feature in it and will support Linux also .

Maybe these OSs are what's behind IBM's statement at CeBIT about MSFT missing it:

" ''The business model that Microsoft has is very suitable when you are in the platform business because then the customer wants to know it can run all these applications.

But in the appliance market you don't care anymore. What's the operating system in your cellphone? You don't know because you don't care,'' Bregman said. "
