EVs: We discussed the issue with Lev at the shareholders meeting, and his position was that he wasn't interested in producing any batteries for the automotive market. HOWEVER, he pointedly remarked that after 2003, Valence has the right to license the technology to anyone in the automotive industry, and would be happy to. He also said their laminate production capability would enable them to sell laminate to such users.

If the patents for the new cathode materials are as lucrative as he's suggesting, then everyone will have to go through Valence to have access to the technology for the highest-density lithium-polymer batteries for any market, be it automotive or mobile electronics.
