Here is some evidence that not everyone thinks the 800Mhz is
easy at .18 micron for Xeon.

From Client Server News:
Initially only a 500MHz PIII Xeon, called internally
Tanner, with 512KB L2 cache is available, at $931 in 1,000-
piece quantities. Versions with 1MB and 2MB
of cache are due out in Q3, at $1,980 and
$3,692 respectively. The first 550MHz versions
will start rolling out in mid-April. It's gonna
take a 0.18-micron shrink, called Cascades, to
get the clock speed on the widget any higher.
It's doubtful the thing will pass 700MHz, prob-ably
be lucky to get that high, maybe more like
667MHz. The first Cascades – for two-ways –
should be out later this year, followed by the
ones for four-ways and eight-ways with 1MB
and 2MB of cache in the first half of next year.
Next stop after that is the 1GHz 32-bit Forster
which appears in late 2000, early 2001.
