Vendit, regarding AOL's ICQ, I have the following thought:

My daughter used to 'not knowing what to do with the Internet' since
she was a 10 years old kid, she used to go to the Nick site or
Toy's site to find a level-1 game to play alone and gave up
quickly...

She was not able to talk to all her friends on the net because
lengthy emil addresses ...

Suddenly, she found the AOL's ICQ 2 years back (don't know she found it out herself or from friends), her life has been changed forever and she needs the Internet more than she needs us, the
parents, why? Her friends from school formed a message circle, and
they are doing instant messages, it is like a conference call! This is specially intensified when it rains, snows outside or she
just don't want go outside, she always has someone available in that
chat room...

Now, the internet makes sense to her, it is a necessity!

The way I see it is AOL's brand name has been imbedded in my
daughter's mind, it too imbedded in her friends and other kids or
... and when they grows up, having family, having kids, what do
they think about providing their kids? AOL!

It took tons of $ to make almost everyone on earth to pronounce 'Cola',
to pronounce 'IBM', to pronounce 'Microsoft', 'AT&T', 'GE' ...
and AOL is doing it for the next and next and next generations to come, that is tremendous business potential!

Someone may argue, well, YAHOO has it now, MSN has it now, but
AOL's ICQ is the first that captured the millions of young minds, as long as AOL's ICQ remains technical superior, adding new functions such as voice mail, phone, fax, geez..., I am not worry about
the competition because the eyeball goes to the tech-savy and I
believe the AOL's ICQ is the next generation PORTAL model!

I am glad that I have jumped on the AOL wagon, I may miss the
first few years but I am determined to ride the wagon to the
high plain...
