Rob, I recently planned a 2-day trip to LA.... I simply want one online site to tell me for any set of days, what the cheapest overall package including air, hotel and car. It should ask for a location area, like Malibu or something and then give me the prices and list the different hotels... maybe in groups of "cheapies", "luxury", etc. I mean, whats the big deal? Preview Travel does a little of that pretty well - there is still a long way to go (especially in the hotel/car area, airline fares are pretty automated now). Steve Harmon was right when he said travel and internet go together - after all what service did travel agents really provide for all those years? They were hooked into the system and that was about it. I don't know whats wrong with Preview but maybe I'll look at that "Cheap Trips" company. The key to success will be the non-airline offerings of the site since the airlines themselves will always have an advantage there (and airfares are a pretty small % of a lot of vacations these days so who cares about saving $20 on air when you can get a better deal on the hotel).
