Datek has great accounting - at least in my experience. Buying power is updated instantly, and I've never had problems with my account. This is something to be very thankful for - just read the Etrade board, where problems with account balances are widespread.
Having sung the praises of Datek, probably next week it'll be slow as molasses again, and I'll be going stark raving mad - for as you so rightly point out - what matters most, are execution speed, relibility, and correct account balances.
