If this is true, PIII better be available in huge quantities now, or we're all cooked! Having followed Intel for a few years, I think it's safe to say that they are.

Borrowing this observation from Paul Engel over on Intel, it's easy to see that the transition from PII to PIII is practically a "piece of cake."

"Since Pentium II motherboards, chip sets, etc are all compatible
with the Pentium III, I think only BIOS chips need to be changed."


Now if Intel, with Camino, and the DRAM makers, packaging people and test people can get through the nasty 600 - 800 MHz related problems, we'll have PCs with PIIIs and Rambus inside.
