Jack, I used to work with hydrogen in the lab ("washing" molybdenum heating elements in furnaces to get to 1800 C, quite tough), and I always directed the flow out of a window, and lit the outgoing hydrogen to make sure it never reaches a high enough concentration. I have seen more than one mutilated guy from a mini hydrogen explosion. Maybe it is "ingrained" fear from prior experiences, but I'd rather be on the "safe" side. Remember, the stuff is absolutely odor less you just do not know it is there.
