I don't think that is very likely. There are two different cultures between ASND and MRVC. I sum it up like this:
MRVC is attractive to a lot of us because of highly innovative technical products. Products that some of us, as engineers, wish we had developed or contributed to the development of. The whole company is run by engineers, with a very strong engineering mentality.
ASND has the same highly innovative technical products, but the company is run by some people with dynamic marketing capabilities. I remember a period of time when ASND told my company that we were their advertising department. For the first couple of years, ASND did NO PRINT ADVERTISING. That in itself, is a pretty strong marketing statement. But ASND also had a management team who was strongly tuned into what the street was thinking, and when they erred, they changed course and promoted the changes to 'the street' so the street could react to the changes.
I do not feel that MRVC has done a good job keeping 'the street' informed. When they have made errors, there does not seem to exist any ability to compensate for the error, or make the necessary changes, and then communicate those changes to the street. MRVC really, really, really needs one effective communicator, who can demonstrate leadership, and have words followed by actions, and punch out any of the company's shortfalls.
Another factor is the breadth of the market that MRVC plays to. There are a LOT of pieces to the network integration business, and MRVC only has a few pieces of the puzzle. CSCO's success, is not necessarily having the best solution for all networks.... it's just that they offer a solution.
I've given up on getting rich off of this company. There are too many good financially rewarding companies out there. The one greatest thing I've learned from MRVC is to not fall in love with a company. I was very emotionally attached to this company, and that is the wrong reason to invest in any company. Emotions are for people. We invest for one reason and one reason alone. Return on Investment. Whether the company make semiconductor lasers or marbles...
But, I don't need to explain that to you Dee Jay. You know the financial side better than I do.
