I too am certain that the SEC is watching this board. I believe they are also hoping to find people treating other people fairly on the internet and not trying to take advantage of the feeble of mind.
I am sure these guys would prefer to be going after wide spread organized fraud, which strips the innocent of tens of millions every year, rather than teenagers having the time of their life.
It's not as if he wasn't being encouraged. My 11 year old is involved in " the stock market game" at school, and she is in 5th grade. I am being quizzed about where stocks like Allied Signal, Budweiser, AOL, and MRK closed for the day by a child. She is learning to read charts, and determine uptrends from downtrends. Soon she will know way more than this kid probably ever will because I am her teacher.
This is the country where people would like to still be able to teach their children, that anyone can be president, but not everyone can use their talents and skills to position themselves at a position of wealth, so that their lives can then be a benefit to others.
I don't anticipate that these message boards will ever be as meaningful and truly useful as they could be, until the day when they make everyone use their real names on SI and elsewhere, or they don't have the right to post; period.
If I have to use my real name and give full disclosure, then I believe everyone should have to. |
