I think Ed Yourdon makes a pretty good statement there in highlighting the battle between both the fear-mongers and the polly-annas.

It's time to call it a draw and deal with what we know for CERTAIN, while preparing for whatever we individually consider probable.

I still believe the greatest contribution that each of us can make with regard to Y2K is to prepare ourselves and our families to such an extent that we put as little pressure on the emergency response "system" as possible.
