Every time FORE makes a positive move, several people come forward to characterize those of us who are unhappy with management's execution as FORE-bashers. So I thought about some of the various characteristics FORE investors seem to possess.
The Opportunist - Whenever the stock drops down below $14, he/she buys. When the stock hits $17 or $18 they sell. Not in it for the Big Magilla, they have recognized how often FORE has shown promise, then failed to deliver. They have garnered substantial gains by not being greedy.
The Agonizer - This investor may have bought shares at $35, or maybe at $15. They bought their shares as an investment in what they thought was a promising company to reap the rewards of patience, like holders of DELL, MSFT, INTC. They've probably long since forgotten what they paid for their shares. As prices drop they wonder why they continue with this dog. When they rise, they hope that this is not just another carrot being dangled in front of them.
The Idiot - This guy is the opposite of The Opportunist. When the stock rises, he figures "This is it!" and jumps on board. When rumors subside or earnings don't materialize, they shrink back into their holes, licking their wounds, only to repeat the process later.
The Booster - These are the people who have no concept of the fundamentals or management of this company. They heard the acronym ATM at a cocktail party or health club, and dammit they're gonna make a bundle sure as IOM = Disk Drives and AOL = Internet. FORE is magic beans, and they can't understand why no wise entrepreneur has bought these beans.
The Jach-(your expletive here)s and Bandits - Actually a subset of The Booster, this group cannot actually be considered investors. The extent of their investment is the pile of $10 checks that Granny gave them for their birthdays. Many use Monopoly money, or the little known Greg Medavoy (NYPD Blue) "Mind Bet". This is an elite group consisting of two people (and a handful of wannabes). Not only will FORE skyrocket (what day is today?) tomorrow, but they will leave the like of Cisco and Lucent in ashes.
The FORE Bashers - Actually no one really belongs to this group. Most agree that FORE has an excellent suite of products, but that through well documented results, management has failed to deliver either expected or achievable growth. I doubt there are many, if any FORE shorts who contribute to the thread. More likely, they are Agonizers who may be beginning to sound like Bashers.
Just a little weekend diversion to pass the time....
jas.
See the happy moron, He doesn't give a damn, I wish I was a moron, My God! Perhaps I am!
