OMGA - they really released a dog of a product

I hope MetaStock eats their lunch. I finally figured out what they did in this new version. In the previous version of the product, Omega had an application called the Omega Research Downloader. With this program, one could download data from various sources such as Dial/Data, CSI, etc.

For the new version, Omega introduced their own service called HISTORYBANK, but get this - it won't be ready until May 1st of this year. But it's currently a beta version that's free to people who bought the new product. Unfortunately, the service sucks. I tried to download three weeks of daily data for 300 symbols, and it took several hours to finish. And when it finished, there was NO DATA! Tried using various ISPs, too - same problem.

So why not use the Downloader? Well it's gone. You can now only import data from other feeds in their GlobalServer. The problem is that you now have to get the software from the vendors themselves to download the data, THEN import it into GlobalServer - get this - ONE symbol at a time. Can you imagine importing your 1000 symbols one at a time? Sheer idiocy, but obviously designed to force you to use HISTORYBANK, which won't be available for 2 months!

So here I am dead in the water without data to do my analysis. And to top it off, the GlobalServer hangs when I try to interrupt the download from this beta service. I've used this product for many years and am totally disappointed. Imagine a newbie trying to use this for the first time LOL.

At this point, it probably does not make sense to download data anyway when there are plenty of good screening and technical analysis programs right on the 'Net. I don't see how Omega can survive in the long run with this $3000 dog of a program. Can't do much analysis without current data...
