I'm sure Gary could provide you with any number of sources about the Chinese bases in Panama, but you could start with the December 1998 edition of the National Security Report of the Defense Education Fund. It outlines the testimony given before the Senate foreign relations committee last July concerning our impending confrontation with China over access to the Panama canal. You may also want to read the book written and published last year by the former head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Thomas Moorer, entitled "The Death Knell of the Panama Canal". The legacy of the Clinton era will be with us for a long time to come, perhaps forever.
