Kaiser,

Regarding competition for IDBEF's DNA tests, here's some information from the website of a company name HYSEQ:

"Sequencing chip: The HychipTM System

The HyChipTM system is a universal chip based DNA sequencing system
being developed by Hyseq in collaboration with Perkin-Elmer Biosystems
for diagnostic and research applications. The HyChipTM system utilizes
arrays of a complete set of DNA probes in conjunction with a
target-specific cocktail of labeled probes to identify single
nucleotide differences between a reference and test sample. One major
advantage of the HyChip™ system is that, since the chip contains all
possible probes, it can be used to sequence DNA from any source. The
HyChip™ system is therefore universal, only one chip is needed for a
wide variety of targets. The use of a universal set of probes permits
arrays to be developed at low density, which combines the benefits of
low cost and ease of manufacturing with those of high accuracy and
reliability. Other existing technologies require previous knowledge of
the sequence and of the mutations to design the chips and at least one
chip has to be made for each gene."

Other companies are working on similar chips (AFFX for one) that will identify DNA. Isn't this direct competition for IDBEF's cycling probe technology? If so, what advantage is there to using IDBEF's test?

Thanks
