Thanks, everyone, for comments on the WFMI stores. The one I spoke of is the one in central Houston. I have not visited the other two Houston stores, which are in suburban locations; although I'll make a point to try in order to make a comparison.

I get the impression that observations could be pretty variable depending on the store. The central Houston store could probably get away with substandard management in the past, due to its location and the fact that there was less competition. But now the newly remodeled mega supermarkets that are close to this store are obviously targeting WFMI-type customers, as well as Joe 6-pack, and I'm sure they have some impact.
